Recorded during lockdown, The Longest Road...Left To Travel / Uncertain Mountain is the debut single by guitarist, composer and improvisor Harry James Ballard.

The music explores feelings of doubt and optimism, amongst a mood of uncertainty.

The Longest Road...Left To Travel takes listeners on a journey through icy introspection into wistful defiance, concluding with almost a sense of resolution.

Uncertain Mountain is looser and more improvised, leaving space between expressive statements and moments of drama. The interaction between the musicians is a constant anchor against darker moments in the music.

These compositions have been arranged for a guitar/piano duet. Guitarist Harry James Ballard is suitably accompanied by pianist Lewis Chadwick, who contributes an emotional depth through his chordal and textural exploration and interplay, similarly seen on his Self-Reflection EP from 2019.

Created alongside a short film, the music is often cinematic in scope but always retains a sense of intimacy.

Expect emotive melodies and tantalizing improvisation inspired by the atmospheric, horizon grasping music of Ornette Coleman, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Kenny Wheeler, and Tomasz Stanko.
